The research project presented by Taiki Yamamoto, a researcher of Fukuoka University, and his group received the Encouragement Award for Young Researchers at the 26th Western Japan Society for the Studies on Obesity Conference held at Horuto Hall in Oita on Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd of July, 2018.

The presentation was titled "The Effects of a Three-day "Health Tourism" Program on the Amount of Physical Activity and Obesity Index."

According to the research, the participants' body weight and blood test results showed improvements not only after the short-term dieting of three days and two nights, but also after a month of self-weight control.

The levels of the participants' satisfaction is also high. They continued to maintain high numbers of steps throughout the self-weight control period. These facts indicate that health tourism may work well as a form that helps transform participants' behavior.
