The 2021 Fukuoka City Health and Safety Workshop (2) (basic session) was held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the Fukuoka City Chuo Ward Civic Center. Co-organized by Fukuoka City and the Fukusou Project (Fukuoka University Research Branding Project), the workshop gathered 152 nursery teachers and nurses working at nursery schools.
In Part I, Professor Yasuko Koyanagi of the School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Fukuoka University gave a talk titled "Fatal and incapacitating accidents and crisis management in nursery schools." In Part II, Professor Yumiko Miyagi of the School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, Fukuoka University gave a talk titled "Caring for sick children in nursery schools." In the area of "Life with Children," the branding project aims to update nursery teachers on the latest knowledge, techniques, and information so that children can live in safety and security. In this year's basic session, we provided an overview. Up until 2019, we held a practical session at Fukuoka University for participants of the basic session, which involved simulation training to deal with convulsion in children. Since 2020, however, the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult to hold face-to-face events. Therefore, we created a DVD called "Simulation Training to Deal with Convulsion in Children" that could be utilized by nursery schools. Through some of the participants of this year's basic session, we distributed the DVD along with a manual to nursery schools that requested for them. We hope the DVD and manual will help nursery teachers improve their emergency response skills.
