We held this year's first social skills training (SST) at a local elementary school.
The children role-played in two settings around the theme of "how to clearly communicate what you think and feel."
In the first setting, the role-play was about respecting differing opinions during a discussion while clearly communicating what they think.
In the second setting, the children practiced saying "I don't know" when they were asked a question to which they didn't know the answer, and suggesting a solution to the problem.
Since they had attended the last year's SST and this was their second time in the training session, the children participated in the activity in a relaxed atmosphere.
We plan to offer five SST sessions at an elementary school and three sessions at a junior high school (five at an elementary school and four at a junior high last year). We plan to offer the next SST with role-playing around the same theme.
