Workshop for nursery teachers in Kitakyushu: "Life with Children"
11/07/2019

Tuesday, November 5, 2019

As in last year's workshop, Mr. Izumihara from Fukusou Project Team 2 gave a talk about "coordination training for children." Last year's workshop was a great success, and the nursery teachers had asked for another one to be held this year. Mr. Izumihara cited examples such as the effects of coordination training and explained the scientifically-based results in an easy-to-understand way. Though the venue was small, the nursery teachers enjoyed experiencing training skills such as beanbag juggling and activities using scarves and their hands. In May 2019, the WHO published guidelines concerning the physical activity of children aged under five. The guidelines recommend that three to four year olds engage in 180 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 60 minutes should involve moderate or more intense physical activity. The workshop was an opportunity for participants to consider the importance of the physical activity of children in infancy, who spend most of the day at nursery school, and actual ways to carry out exercise.
